SUPERINTENDENT

HOWARD K. BURGOYNE has served as Superintendent, East Coast Conference of the Evangelical Covenant Church since 2006.

Howard has previously served as Senior Pastor of Newport Covenant Church, Bellevue, WA, Associate Pastor of First Covenant Church of St. Paul, MN and as Associate Pastor of the Evangelical Covenant Church, Batavia, IL. While serving as a pastor, Howard has served as President of the North Pacific Conference Ministerial Association, as Chair of the Northwest Conference Leadership Development Board, and was elected to the ECC Board of Ordered Ministry. Howard is a graduate of Bryan College, ’82; Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, M.Div ’87; North Park Theological Seminary, ’86-’87, and was ordained to Word and Sacrament in the ECC in 1989.

While serving as Superintendent, Howard has served on the ECC Board of Pensions and Benefits, The Board of National Covenant Properties, the President’s Organizing for Mission (OFM) Task Force, and is currently serving on the Board of Directors of North Park University. He also continues to serve on the boards of Ädelbrook, Inc. (formerly The Children’s Home of Cromwell), Pilgrim Pines Conference Center, and New England Seafarers Mission.

Howard and his wife, Ann, are members of Bethany Covenant Church, Berlin, CT. They have two grown children: Taylor (married to Rachel) and Terra. Howard enjoys reading, bicycling, cooking, music, and golf. EMAIL HOWARD

 

Barbara Ann Vincent Ettinger
EXECUTIVE ASSOCIATE SUPERINTENDENT

Rev. Dr. Ettinger has served the East Coast Conference as Executive Associate Superintendent since 2017. She also leads Coach Training for the Covenant denomination and is the Coaching Project Manager for Serve Clergy initiatives.

Barbara previously served InterVarsity/USA as the National Theological Formation Manager responsible for discipleship of ministry staff across North America. Previously, she served InterVarsity as College Ministry Planting Area Director in Connecticut with translocal planting and leadership development responsibilities for multiple planting staff. Barbara has also served in church planting, women’s ministry, and as a retreat and conference speaker. Barbara volunteered as the key leader for Adult Discipleship and as the church Vice Chair on the governing board at Trinity Covenant Church (Manchester, CT), where she and her husband Jeff are members.

Barbara graduated from Ursinus College (B.A.), the University of Michigan (M.A.), and Bethel Seminary (M.A.T.S.). She earned her Doctor of Ministry in Leader Emergence from Fuller Theological Seminary (DMin). Previously credentialed with the Christian and Missionary Alliance, Barbara was Ordained to Word and Sacrament in the Evangelical Covenant Church in 2013.

Sandra S.K. Lee
ADMINISTRATIVE MANAGER

Sandi joined the East Coast Conference as Office Manager in 2015. She is a native New Yorker and New England transplant. A daughter and granddaughter of church planters, she grew up and came to faith in the Korean Evangelical Church.

Sandi has previously served as Executive Assistant to the Chair of the Lausanne Committee on World Evangelization and to the Lausanne Theology Working Group. Concurrently, she also served as a Research Associate at the Center for the Study of Global Christianity, Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary. Sandi has also served in Youth Ministry, Adult Christian Education, Worship, Children’s Ministry, and as Special Needs Aide in churches in New York, Massachusetts, and Connecticut.

A graduate of SUNY Binghamton (B.A.), Teachers College Columbia University (M.A.), and Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary (M.Div.), Sandi has a passion for studying African, Asian and Latin American history, culture, diaspora, theology, and world mission. Sandi was Ordained to Word and Sacrament in the Evangelical Covenant Church in 2021.

Sandi and her husband, James, have two young sons and live in the West Hartford area. EMAIL SANDI
